Chapter 7 Math Test

Chapter 7 Math Tests were returned today. Of 23 students taking the test 22 students passed with an adjusted score of 17 or better. Three students achieved a perfect score. Twenty-one students scored 20 or better. One question was thrown for incorrect wording.

Writing Update

In Writing, we have been working on expressing an opinion. Initially we learned what an argument was and how it is developed. We then listed ideas for possible opinion topics, keeping in mind it is easiest to write an opinion on a topic we feel passionate about. Next we planned our argument by outlining reasons for our opinion. We then wrote statements for each reason. During the revision process, we learned how to connect our ideas together using transition words and phrases. Later, we will learn how to grab our audience's attention with openers and end our essays with a closing. We can further expand our argument giving examples, adding anecdotes, and providing counter arguements.

One Hundred-Eighteenth Day of School

• Do page 503.
• Do page 504 for homework.
• Rip out page 505. Cut and study at home.
• Rip out page 507. Survey family. Complete tables, charts, and questions. Fold and cut per instructions.

Chapter 6 Math Test Results

Of 22 students taking the Chapter 6 Test 21 passed with an adjusted score of 21 points or better. Two students achieved a perfect score.
