- Physical Science
- There are 3 states of matter:
- solid
- liquid
- gas
- In order for matter to change states heat must either be added or removed.
- Earth Science
- There are 3 main elements of weather
- heat
- air
- water
- Geography is also highly influential on the weather.
- There are many types of storms.
- Examples of meteorological (weather) tools are:
- anemometer-wind speed
- wind sock-wind speed and direction
- weather vane-wind direction
- rain gauge-amount of rain
- barometer-air pressure
- thermometer-temperature
- Biological Science
- There are many parts of a plant; we have observed:
- stem
- seed
- roots
- seed leaves
- leaves
- flowers
- fruit
- Plants need sun, soil, water, and air in order to grow.
- Each living thing has a life cycle.
The Social Science Concepts are as follows:
- Humans need basic things in order to survive in a specific hierarchical order:
- air
- water
- food
- shelter
- clothing
- love
- Life in the past was different in many ways to life in the present.
- In the past, modes of transportation relied on human/animal energy.
- Modern transportation largely relies on fuel energy and modern roads are paved.
- The construction of homes in different locations reflect their local environment and available materials.
- There are many recognizable symbols which are particular to the United States, namely:
- The U.S. flag
- The Great Seal of the United States of America
- The Statue of Liberty
- The Capital Building (Most U.S. capital buildings have a distinctive dome in the their architecture.)
- The cardinal directions are:
- north
- east
- south
- west
- The ordinal (primary intercardinal) directions are:
- north east
- southeast
- southwest
- northwest
There will likely be a test next week.
