By now you should have seen 2 pages of review notes taken by your child. The Science concepts included in the notes are as follows:

• Physical Science
• There are 3 states of matter:
• solid

• In order for matter to change states heat must either be added or removed.
• Earth Science
• There are 3 main elements of weather
• heat
• air
• water
• Geography is also highly influential on the weather.
• There are many types of storms.
• Examples of meteorological (weather) tools are:

• wind sock-wind speed and direction
• weather vane-wind direction
• rain gauge-amount of rain

• Biological Science
• There are many parts of a plant; we have observed:

• The Statue of Liberty
• The Capital Building (Most U.S. capital buildings have a distinctive dome in the their architecture.)

There will likely be a test next week.

Unit 3 Week 5

This final week of the Having Fun Unit we compare children in different parts of the world to ourselves. We analyze text structure for our comprehension strategy and compare and contrast for the comprehension skill. Our oral vocabulary words are culture, custom, language, similar, skill. Our sight words are any, boy, by, does, friend, girl, water. We will also focus (review) triple consonant blend spelling patterns (scrap, splat, stretch).

In Social Studies we decided we would take our world map test on Friday.

Fifty-Third Day of School

We will take our Social Science and Science tests on Friday. Please find exam review notes with your child today.

The children chose information on which to be tested for Social Science. The basic concepts are:

• In order of importance, what are a humans needs for survival?
• Compare the past with the present considering education, commerce (stores), transportation, and communication.
• What are some traditions we share?

The concepts for Science are:

• The 3 forms of matter
• How one form of matter transforms to another
• Examples of each form of matter
• Properties of liquids and solids
